Alder on the attack
The NC residents of Team Globalbike (Alder Martz, Ben Miller, David Forkner, and Josh Whitmore) toed the line on Friday night at the NC State Criterium Championships. Held in downtown Salisbury NC, the race drew a strong field of fresh young talent and veterans alike. The racing was aggressive with attack after attack trying their luck off the front, but nothing seemed to stick. Globalbike was attentive at the front of the race covering moves and trying several of their own. One solo move from Alder Martz looked good for several laps near the end, but that too was brought back.

Forkner Wins
All together with about 5 laps to go, the team enacted the group finish sprint plan - control the group and provide leadout to sprinter David Forkner. The plan went went smoothly as the team amassed at the front and provided the perfect 4 lap leadout for David. Ben Miller started the train at the front and lasted several laps setting a tempo that was just fast enough to discourage attacks. Alder Martz took over next, drilling it up the start/finish hill with one to go and keeping us lined out around the first 3 turns of the course. Josh Whitmore took over with 2 turns to go, upping the pace to apply pressure on anyone trying to move up. After the last turn, Forkner turned on the afterburners and crossed the line first.
